Coastline is a small therapy practice based in California. Our nine licensed therapists offer virtual sessions across twelve states for anxiety, relationships, life transitions, and the parts of being a person that are hardest to talk about.
"It's not about diving in. It's about finding the right person before you start." — Dr. Hana Kestler, founder
Most of our work isn't crisis. It's the ordinary, accumulated weight of being a person. Below are the things we see most often.
The kind that doesn't go away when the obvious problem does. CBT, ACT, and somatic approaches tailored to how it actually shows up in your life.
Partnership, family, dating, friendship. The patterns you keep ending up in and the conversations that always seem to go the same way.
Becoming a parent, leaving a job, ending a marriage, moving home, getting older. The transitions that look like progress on paper and feel like loss in the body.
Persistent flatness, exhaustion, and the version of yourself that has gone quiet. We work on what's underneath, not just the symptoms.
Including complex trauma and adverse childhood events. EMDR, IFS, and somatic experiencing — at the pace your nervous system can hold.
The quiet, persistent sense that something is wrong with you. Often the most important work, and the hardest to start.
Every Coastline therapist is licensed, vetted, and supervised. None of us see more than fifteen clients a week — because real therapy doesn't happen in our twentieth session of the day.
15 years of practice. Anxiety, complex trauma, and identity work. Trained in EMDR, IFS, and somatic experiencing. Founded Coastline in 2019.
11 years working with couples, men, and life transitions. Gottman-trained for couples work. Particular interest in fatherhood and midlife.
9 years working with young adults, perinatal mental health, and BIPOC clients. CBT and ACT-trained. Bilingual: English & Igbo.
Most people we work with have been thinking about therapy for a long time. We try to make the first step as small as we can.
A 20-minute video call. Free, no commitment. We listen, get a sense of what you're working with, and recommend the right therapist.
We match you to the therapist who fits — by experience, modality, and personality. Your first paid session is usually within a week.
50 minutes by video. We talk through history, hopes, and approach. You leave knowing what working together would look like.
Weekly or biweekly sessions, whatever cadence is right. We re-evaluate together every six sessions. You can pause or stop at any time.
We accept most major insurance plans and offer a sliding-scale option for clients without coverage. No surprise fees, no membership traps.
"I'd tried therapy three times before. Always quit. Hana was the first therapist who didn't make me feel like a project. Eight months in, I am unrecognisable to myself in the best way."
"My husband and I were a month from filing. Andre helped us understand what we'd actually been fighting about for ten years. We're not perfect, but we're together — and we know how to be together."
"The sliding-scale changed my life. I was paying $40/session for a year, now I'm in better shape than I've been in a decade. Coastline did this when no one else would."
"Postpartum hit me hard. Mara understood it without me having to explain. The first session was the first time I'd felt seen since the baby came."
Yes, completely. No card, no commitment. It's a chance for us to understand what you're working with and recommend the right therapist — or to be honest with you if Coastline isn't the right fit.
We accept most major plans including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross, United Healthcare, and Kaiser (in California). We'll verify your benefits before the first session and handle filing for you.
We currently see clients in California, New York, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Arizona. We're adding more — happy to be matched with a future opening.
All sessions are virtual via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. This lets our nine clinicians cover twelve states and gives clients flexibility around commuting, parenting, and travel.
It depends entirely on what you're working on. Some clients see real change in 8–12 weeks. Most stay with us for 6–18 months. We re-assess together every six sessions, and you can pause or stop at any time.
Currently no — we accept new consultations within the week. If our schedule changes, we'll let you know on the consultation call.
A 20-minute video call. Free. Confidential. No commitment. We'll listen, understand what you're working with, and match you with the right therapist — or be honest if we're not the right fit.
