Editorial, portrait, and brand photography from a small studio in Copenhagen — for thoughtful publications, considered houses, and people who don't quite like being photographed.
A short selection from the past eighteen months — editorial commissions, brand campaigns, and personal portrait work. Full archive available on request.
All commissions begin with a thirty-minute conversation — about the subject, the publication, the room. We don't book without it.
Commissioned editorial work for magazines, journals, and books — portraits, features, and documentary series. Worldwide commissions accepted.
Studio or location portrait sessions for individuals, families, and creative practitioners. Twenty-five high-resolution images, archive-quality.
Lookbooks, brand campaigns, and product photography for considered houses — fashion, furniture, hospitality, beauty.
"I started Halsen because I wanted somewhere quiet to make pictures that took longer than an afternoon."
I'm Mira Halsen. I've photographed for Vogue Scandinavia, Kinfolk, House & Garden, Cereal, WSJ Magazine, and a small number of brands I admire. The studio operates from a former carpentry shop in Vesterbro, with one north-facing window and an old Hasselblad I refuse to sell.
I work on film when the subject allows it and digital when the deadline doesn't. Every commission begins with a conversation. Every shoot ends with a hand-edited archive of thirty to forty frames — not three hundred.
Editorial commissions, brand inquiries, and portrait sessions are all welcome. Studio replies within two working days — Tuesday through Friday.
